MetaRinse is an independent, browser-based utility for inspecting and removing readable image metadata before sharing.
What MetaRinse does
MetaRinse helps people inspect GPS, camera, date, creator, description, software, and other readable fields in JPEG, PNG, and browser-supported WebP files. It creates a fresh image locally and verifies the output before offering it for download.

Why it was built
Photo-sharing advice often reduces privacy to a single switch or claims that one action makes a file anonymous. MetaRinse was built to offer a visible, testable workflow: inspect, re-encode locally, re-inspect, and explain the limits in normal language.
Funding and independence
The MVP is not showing advertising. After the product, content, legal disclosures, and consent system have been reviewed, conservative advertising may help fund hosting and maintenance. MetaRinse is independent and is not affiliated with camera makers, social platforms, browser vendors, or operating-system vendors.
